Street Lacrosse is a fast, low gear-requirement way to play lacrosse -Â
The rules are simple -
Soft Balls only
3 Players per team on court at a time
May not hold ball for more than 3 seconds
10 second shot clock once over half court
No Contact
Whoever initiates contact is at fault
You cannot go through someone, you must go around
Foul results in free possession for other team
All you need to play is a stick, (we have a dozen to lend). Soft balls (or tennis balls) and no contact means no protective gear is needed. You can wear gloves and/or helmet if you want.
The game is played with running substitutions, just like box or field lacrosse, so 3 guys on, they run an offensive shift, a defensive shift, then during the transition back to offense, they rotate off and 3 new guys jump in.
A short hold time encourages a lot of passing, a short shot clock requires people to get open and discourages 1v1 drives (which create contact)
No contact means you need to move your feet to play offense and defense - if you can get around someone on offense, your good,. On defense if you can slide fast enough to be in front of them, they can't go through you.
