Can't get enoug lacrosse? Want to play during the off-season? Want to get better over the summer and winter so you can dominate next spring?
Reno is lucky enough to be a hot bed of youth and high school lacrosse.
The primary organizer in the area is High Sierra Lacrosse - a non-profit in the Reno/Tahoe area whose sole goal is to support and grow lacrosse in the area.
You can reach their main page here - High Sierra Lacrosse
But here is a general breakdown of the programs they offer -
Fall
Fall Ball - a skills focused lightly competitive mish mash of talent from around the valley. $185 gets you 13 sessions for 2 hours each+ a reversible pinny. You'll improve your skillset, make some new friends from other schools, and get to run around in the fresh air.
Winter
Beginner/Intro to Lacrosse - Got a friend who is a sophomore or below who is thinking about play lacrosse, this is for them $50 for 4 sessions to learn how to pass, catch and cradle. No pads required. A stick can be added for $25
Box Lacrosse - Think lacrosse meets hockey, played in a hockey rink, on turf, 30 second shot clock. It's fast and hard. Box is where your stick handling goes from good to great. It's like wall ball on steroids. It's a mix of talent and ages. McQueen is perennially under-represented :( $185 gets you 8 sessions of 2 hours each, usually down at Swift SportsDome
Men's League - Ready to play with the big boys? This is 7v7 indoor lacrosse with adults from around the valley, most of whom played in college, so come prepared to learn from your elders. 2 hours of game play a night.
Year Round
If you're ready to step up to the big leagues of Reno/Tahoe Lacrosse, you're looking at the Avalanche Travel Team - this team travels to surrounding states (CA, UT, AZ, CO, OR, etc) to participate in tournaments throughout the summer, fall and winter, both field and box, + weekly practices. There's a registration fee, plus you provide your travel/accommodations for events. If lacrosse is your thing, this is as good as it gets.
